Psalm 91:4 – Under His Wings

Under His Wings

“He will cover you with His feathers. He will shelter you with His wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.”
Psalm 91:4

Sometimes in life, it seems EVERYTHING is going wrong. Maybe it seems like that to you right now with all that is going on in the world.

If you are looking for a sense of security, the Psalmist wants to send a word of comfort to you today.

This verse is an incredible reminder how great is our God. God’s promise – is to be a refuge. He is our shelter in life’s storms. He will cover us with His feathers. Under His wings is a place to find safety.

When I read this verse, I immediately envision a strong, magnificent bird like an eagle.

A mother bird spreads her majestic wings over her little ones in order to protect them from any storms or predators. She will actually face injury in order to protect her little ones. She keeps them warm and sheltered. The baby birds feel safe.

The promise to be sheltered by God is for those who are His.

He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.

This is God’s fierce love for humanity. He wants to cover us and protect us. In Him we will find refuge.

His faithful promises are your armor and protection.

It’s God’s faithfulness that is our shield and protection. HIS faithful promises. It’s not dependent on us. God will be faithful to the promises He has made.

When the enemy tries to make you fearful, we have the power to ward off those attacks because God’s faithfulness is our armor.

But maybe you’ve thought, “I can’t dwell in the shelter of God. I’ve messed up too many times.” Be encouraged today. God knows our weakness. That’s why He sent His Son Jesus to die for all of what we’ve done wrong. We can’t earn this protection just as we can’t earn our salvation. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

The question is: “Who is Jesus to you? Is He your Savior?”

If He is, then, you can boldly proclaim that He IS your refuge. He will cover you and provide safety for you. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.

Prayer: Father, thank you that those who dwell in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Thank you for being our Mighty protector. Thank you for covering us and sheltering us and keeping us from arm. You are faithful.

Praying for you today that God will strengthen, encourage you, and protect you through this Psalm!
