Do Not Fear

Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night,
nor the arrow that flies in the day.

Psalm 91:5

There is so much to fear right now, yet I hope God will encourage you today:  You don’t have to be afraid.  It doesn’t matter, day or night, God wants to be there for you.  He wants to protect you.

Verse 5 and 6 of Psalm 91 cover a 24 hour period of protection.  Night or day.  Any point in the week, it doesn’t matter.  Any season of life you don’t have to walk in fear.

Why?

To best understand, verse 5 of this Psalm, take a look back at verse 4 as a refresher.

He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.
His faithful promises are your armor and protection.

Psalm 91:4

It’s because of God’s character.  God is faithful.  He is trustworthy.  He is righteous.

He always does what He says. ALWAYS.

In fact, over and over Jesus tells us, DO. NOT. FEAR.

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” (John 14:27)

“So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.” (Luke 12:32)

“Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” (Mark 4:40)

Are you feeling afraid or anxious – especially at a time like this?

Fear comes when we think we can do everything on our own.  We can’t. We can have fearless faith when we trust Jesus. When we read, speak, meditate on God’s Word.

Look at the example Jesus gave us. Think of how Jesus conquered fear in the wilderness when he was tempted by Satan.

When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness and the enemy was coming at Him, how did Jesus fight back? With God’s Word.  God was His refuge. God’s faithfulness was His shield. He trusted God (Matthew 4:1-11).

Jesus did not have to be afraid because God is faithful to His Son. Therefore, when we put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ, we do not have to be afraid either.

Be real with God. Talk to Him. Give Him your fears and doubts. Cry out to Him! He can handle it. It’s ok to do that! God loves you so much and wants to be there for you, comfort you and encourage you. Then, it’s important to let go and surrender all those fears to Jesus. It’s then important to confess with our mouth and believe with our hearts the promises God has given to us.

Do Not Fear.

Read Psalm 91. Speak it out loud. Remember God’s promises and begin to have Fearless Faith!

Prayer: Father, thank You for Your mighty protection. Lord, I thank You that I don’t have to be afraid of any terror or trouble that comes my way. You are faithful.

I put my faith and trust in You. Help me to speak Your faithful promises when fear tries to creep in. Thank You for the strength You will give me today, in Jesus name – Amen!

Praying for you today that God will strengthen and encourage you through this Psalm!
