The IFB Lifeline
“Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
teach me your paths.
Lead me in your truth and teach me,
for you are the God of my salvation;
for you I wait all the day long.”–Psalm 25:4-5
When I worked in television news and there was breaking news, I’d be on the anchor desk for hours. Working for a 24-hour news station meant going live with breaking news anytime. I was usually in the television studio, all by myself, and wore an ear piece called an IFB. That piece of equipment is vital to an anchor on set. I relied on it in order to hear the producers and directors tell me where to go and what’s going on. It could often be crazy and very chaotic, as a lot was happening in a short period of time. Those folks who work behind the scenes are amazing. It’s in those moments I had to trust them. I had to listen very closely, that they were giving me the right information – that they were giving me clear directions on what to do.
Those experiences remind me of our lifeline to God.
In this Psalm, David is saying, those who trust in the Lord, seek His guidance. If you are following the Lord, you want to do what pleases Him.
It’s so important to be connected to God and be able to tune everything out in order to hear from Him. It’s also an important reminder, for all of us, that when things are chaotic and crazy, we need to trust that God is leading. We need to listen for the direction in the path He wants us to take.
Prayer:
Father, we thank You and praise You for who You are – You are good. You are mighty. You are faithful. Make Your ways known, O Lord. Teach us Your paths. Lead us in Your truths – for You are our God. Be with us today. Encourage us. Guide us. We thank You that You will never leave nor forsake us. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.
We hope and pray this encourages you today.
