Lessons to Learn from a New King

David. Shepherd boy. Warrior. Anointed King.

2 Samuel details King David’s life – the peaks and valleys that he went through – and God’s faithfulness through it all. The scene is set in the land of Israel and follows David’s forty years of reign as king.

David is known as a “man after God’s own heart” (1 Samuel 13:14). He experiences many victories, and yet, David made mistakes and suffered a series of tragedies. Despite everything, the young shepherd boy who became king, still experienced the Lord’s forgiveness and favor.

There are numerous lessons to learn from David’s life – a life that plays out like a Hollywood movie.

It’s a story that has fascinated Will Graham. In fact, Graham has been studying and teaching from 1 and 2 Samuel for 12 years. He’s excited for you to come and learn from a seminar he’s teaching at the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove titled, “Lessons to Learn from a New King.”

Over the course of three days, March 31-April 2, he’ll look at the life of King David after he was anointed.

Graham had several professors at Liberty University who had a passion for helping students understand the Old Testament and how everything points to Christ. That fire gripped Graham, and he hopes that a deep devotion to the Bible will ignite in people attending his seminar.

“My favorite part is opening up God’s Word and going through it,” said Will Graham, executive vice president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. “And even when I’m going through it and I’ve been doing all this studying, God shows me something new!”

There’s no doubt today, many people face obstacles, just as David did. Graham believes looking at David’s life can help everyone learn valuable lessons.

“David struggled with fear. I think every person has struggled with fear at one time. It’s how you react to that. Do you stay in that fear or do you allow God to speak into it. God spoke to David and he moved on,” said Graham.

He hopes people come to this seminar and leave with a renewed passion and love for God’s Word – to read it, meditate on it, and pray through it – just as his grandfather Billy Graham did.

“I try to bring the Bible to life. I hope I always do. I want people to learn. I love seeing the light bulb go off,” said Graham.

Don’t miss this great opportunity!

Will Graham will be teaching from 2 Samuel 5:6-8:18, March 31 – April 2, 2023, at The Cove in Asheville, North Carolina.
