How Much Can You Handle?

How Much Can You Handle?

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33, NIV

You have probably heard this saying before, “God doesn’t give you more than you can handle.”

I can’t tell you how many times I heard that during rocky times in my life.  Maybe you’ve heard that too.

I believe sometimes God DOES give us more than we can handle.

Why?

Because it’s then, that we truly have to rely on Him. We simply can’t do the impossible in our own strength.  We have to rely on Jesus.

Jesus never promised us life would be easy. In John 16:33, it doesn’t say “if” you have trouble. Jesus says, “you WILL” have trouble. Problems, difficulties, trials, unfortunately, WILL come.

Sometimes, it feels like we have a mountain in front of us and we may be asking, “Really God?  How much more?”

It’s then, that we really have to lean on Him to get us through. Remember, we live in a fallen world where unfair things happen to good people.  None of us are exempt.  But look at what else Jesus shares, “But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

Take heart.  Have Hope.

Don’t give up – God is with you.

He will help you get through whatever you are facing.

Trust in Him.

And know most importantly, God loves you.

Prayer: Father, thank you that You are a good Father and You care so much about us. Lord, I pray right now for those who are going through various trials that you would encourage them today and give them hope. Trials are not easy to go through, but Lord, we are so thankful that we know we don’t go through them alone – that You are always right there with us. Help me Lord not to fear the future but to boldly trust in You. Thank you for Your presence today and helping us to know and embrace that we can have victory in You! In Jesus mighty name. Amen.

I’m praying for you that no matter what you are facing, God will give you the strength you need and encourage you today. Always remember God is faithful. He LOVES you.
