Change Direction

“Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. Lead me in your “truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.”
Psalm 25:4-5, ESV

Are you trying to do the same thing over and over again and feel like you are hitting your head against a brick wall?

You want a different result. You are trying and trying and trying and TRYING, yet nothing is happening. What’s wrong?

Remember those who trust in the Lord, seek His guidance first. They want to learn whatever path or way will please Him.

I stopped at a gas station as my car was almost on empty. This is something many of us do often, and I thought to myself, “I think I need to take a different way to work.”

I have to admit, I’ve gone to work the same way for a while.

That new route led to a new perspective.

Because I went a different way, I saw a beautiful sunrise over a lake. I saw people walking their dogs and a sweet old lady going for her morning walk. I would not have seen any of this on my regular route to work. Then, once I got to work, immediately I had to change directions with the way I had planned out my day. It was unexpected. It required patience. It required looking at things differently. It required me to let go and it required me to stay positive.

And it got me thinking.

Often times when we are frustrated about something or things are not going our way, it’s because we are trying to do the same thing over and OVER again with no result. We keep trying and trying. Maybe we need to let go and get a new perspective. Maybe we need to change to a NEW direction to help us see things differently.

If you do need to change your direction, here’s my encouragement for you today. If you feel like you are constantly frustrated, maybe it’s time to take a step back and change your direction. Remember those who trust in the Lord, seek His guidance first.

Three tips to keep in mind:

  1. Pray – Give your situation to God and ask for His help. Talk to Him, He’s listening. Trust Him.
  2. Take a look at you – This can be hard. If you have tried to change a situation and the situation is not changing, maybe it’s time to focus on how YOU can change YOURSELF regarding the situation. Whether you need to work on patience, kindness or maybe you need to stand up for yourself, learn what you can improve about you and make the necessary changes.
  3. Talk to someone you trust – Sometimes when we talk to someone we trust, who we know will be honest about our situation, they can help us change our direction as well, giving us a new and fresh perspective.

Change your direction.

Change your perspective.

Stay positive.

Prayer: Father, to You we look to. In You we trust. Help us to wait on You. Make known to us the ways we should go, Lord. When it seems like we are hitting a brick wall and get frustrated, help us to stop and be present. Help us to turn to You. Lead us in your truth and teach us. Fill us with Your strength, Your mercy, Your love. Thank You for making our paths straight. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

We hope and pray this encourages you today. Praying God gives you strength and makes your path straight.
