Call on Me
“When they call on me, I will answer;
I will be with them in trouble.
I will rescue and honor them.”
Psalm 91:15
With everything going on in the world lately, maybe you feel that God isn’t hearing you. You might feel lost, alone, and maybe even scared. But I want to encourage you today, when You make Jesus your Lord and Savior, God hears you. Sometimes the answer is yes. Sometimes the answer is not yet. Sometimes the answer is no. And that’s hard. God’s timing is not necessarily our timing.
It’s important to remember the incredible promise God makes to us here in this psalm.
“When they call on me, I will answer”
We are to call upon God through prayer. We are to call upon God in every time of trouble, in every circumstance – knowing He hears us and will be there.
The psalmist quotes the Lord’s promises to those who trust in Him. God promises He will answer those who truly love Him and call upon His name. He promises to be with them in times of trouble. He promises to rescue them. He never promises that we will be free from trouble. Danger, trouble and death are all apart of life.
We have to trust Him that He will do it His way, because He loves us and knows what’s best for us.
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9, NLT)
When I think of someone in the Bible who experienced tremendous trouble, I remember Job. He faced extreme trials. But God was with Job, through it all, and Job continued to praise God. In the end, the Lord blessed Job with double what he lost.
Romans 8:28 says, “All things work together for good those who love God and are called according to His purpose.”
All things. Good things, bad things, tough things, sad things. All things work together for good for those who love God.
“I will rescue and honor them.”
We may face problems, but we hold onto to the promise God gives us that He will not only rescue us, He will then honor us.
May this encourage you today, God hears you. He will be with you in your times of trouble. He will rescue you and honor you.
Prayer: Father, thank You that we can call on You and You will answer. Thank you for being with us in good times and during times of trouble. We trust You, even though, sometimes we don’t understand. We trust that You are working all things out for good. Please be with us Lord, guide us, strengthen us, and show us Your ways. For Your ways are higher. Thank You for all of what You are doing in and through us in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
Praying for you today that God will strengthen and encourage you through this Psalm!
