The book of Judges is often avoided for reading and teaching because it can seem alarming. Much of the book describes multiple cycles of spiritual compromise, reminding us life attempted apart from and in opposition to divine directives is doomed for disaster. However, Judges serves as a historical bridge between the books of Moses and the story of David’s monarchy which foreshadows the coming of Jesus Christ. Dive into this ancient but critical book and remember the Lord is faithful to keep His promises, despite our actions.
