Whether you’re waiting on financial breakthrough, relationship restoration, a medical miracle, or just a general direction from God, remember these words from Billy Graham:
“Each life is made up of mistakes and learning, waiting and growing, practicing patience and being persistent. At the end of construction—death—we have completed the process.”
But we know this isn’t always easy. Waiting with patience doesn’t come naturally to most people. Throughout our entire lives, no matter what season, we are called to wait.
So how do we wait well?
Understand why God makes us wait: If God answered every prayer request exactly when you wanted, every time, you might forget who is really in control. When we are forced to surrender our timelines, expectations, and visions for our future, we remember that God is in control and He knows what is best.
Root ourselves in Scripture: When we are waiting on something important to us, it is easy to look to the world for a solution. However, the Bible tells us how we should wait:
“I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word, I hope; my soul waits for the Lord, more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning.” (Psalm 130:5-6, ESV)
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9, ESV)
So if you are feeling stuck, and you are in that in-between place, and you are tired of waiting, remember that God is producing a patience in you, that can only come from a season of wait. Hold on and believe that God is good! He is not a God that withholds and answers prayers come in His perfect timing!
