Jesus is with You Always

Jesus is with You Always

“Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age’.”

–Matthew 28:16-20

We just celebrated Jesus’ Resurrection. But now that Easter is over, how do we live a resurrected life? What does Jesus tell us to do?

In this passage of the Great Commission, Matthew shares how the eleven disciples went to Galilee – to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When the disciples saw Jesus, they worshiped Him, but some doubted.

Some doubted.

Imagine hearing news of the Resurrection. You would think it dramatically and instantly transformed the disciples into courageous believers of the faith. Yet, we are reminded through this Scripture passage, how the disciples are human, and sometimes, transformation takes time. It’s hard to believe, but even after Jesus’ followers saw Him alive, some still doubted.

They pressed on.

While some may have doubted, they pressed on – and God used them in extraordinary ways. They were sent out into the world on a mission. The Great Commission has not changed since Jesus directed His disciples. As believers in Jesus Christ, we are to go and make disciples – baptizing them and teaching them to obey the Lord’s commands.

The Great Commission

We may struggle. We may have doubts, but we must press on. We must remember and take Jesus at His word that we don’t go out into the world “on mission” alone. He said to His disciples, “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Just as Jesus said He would be with His disciples, He promises to be there for us as well.

As we go, we must remember that Jesus has ALL authority to send us. He says in verse 18, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” This is important, as we can’t do this mission on our own. We need Jesus!

Jesus has ALL authority. We never go alone.

Let this encourage you and remind you to live “on mission” for God.

What does that mission look like?

Wherever you go, look around. The mission field is all around us. The mission field can be your neighborhood, school, or grocery store. Pray for your neighbors, reach out to someone in need, and volunteer at your local church. Share the story of how Jesus has changed your life. And remember when you do this, you are never alone. Jesus is with you always.

Prayer:

Father, thank You that we are never alone. Jesus, thank You that You are with us always. Lord, guide us. Lord, use us. Help us to be faithful and stay on mission. Please bring people into our path that we can share the Good News with. Help us to share Your truth in love. We ask all these things in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

We hope and pray this encourages you today!
