Jesus is Coming!

Jesus is Coming!

“At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. And He will send his angels with a loud trumpet call and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.”

Matthew 24:30-31

Advent derives from the Latin word meaning “arrival” or “coming.” The Lord is coming. As we get ready for Christmas, let us encourage you to think of a different way of looking at Advent. Are you prepared for Jesus to come again?

God sent Jesus His only Son, Jesus, into the world to die for all of our sins. Then, after the third day – He rose again.

“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.”

–John 11:25

Are you prepared if Jesus comes back today? How should this truth impact the way we, as believers, live?

  • Encourage other believers. Life can be hard. When times get tough, we need encouragement. But, as believers, we hold onto the hope that Jesus is coming back. This shouldn’t scare us, but encourage us. Encourage someone today. You never know what someone may be going through. God can use YOU to encourage someone and give them hope. If God brings someone to mind, send that person a card or an email. Maybe call them or text them an encouraging message.
  • Share the Good News of the Gospel! “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3:15). Pray that God will put someone in your path to share the Gospel with and be ready to share the Good News! Remember, you are Christ’s ambassador.
  • Live with expectant hope. Draw closer to the Lord, making sure to spend time in God’s Word, meditate on it, and memorize it.
  • Mend relationships. If you need to forgive someone, do it. If you need to reach out to someone and extend grace, act now. Our time on earth is fleeting and we don’t know what tomorrow holds.

Know and believe Jesus loves you, and that Jesus is coming again.

Prayer: Father, as we remember the birth of Your Son Jesus, we are so thankful that You sent Him to earth. We thank You for the gift of Salvation that we receive by faith. Lord, as we look forward to You coming again, help us to wait for Your coming with expectant hope. Help us to be a blessing and encouragement to others around us. Help us look for opportunities to share Your Good News. Draw us closer to You during this Advent Season. Thank You for all of what You are doing in and through us. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
