He Cares For You
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.”
-1 Peter 5:7
Peter was writing to men and women faced with a number of challenges and trials. These believers in Christ needed to remember their identity in Jesus and how they had an inheritance through the blood of Jesus Christ that no one could shake. They needed to be reminded and encouraged when facing hardships, to give it to God, as He cares for us. He loves us.
I can remember this one particular instance growing up where I came home crying from school. I was 7 or 8 years old and the teacher had said some hurtful things to me about my weight. I remember running to my dad, crying for comfort. As I poured my heart out, he listened and held me tight. He listened some more… and some more.
As I was crying and telling him it wasn’t fair, I remember at one point looking up at his face and seeing tears streaming down his cheek.
“You ok, daddy?” I gently asked him. I remember this moment so vividly. He hugged me again and said, “Yes, honey. I’m ok. But it hurts me that you hurt.”
After I was done crying, suddenly I felt alright. It was like a big weight had just been lifted. Life seemed better because I gave all my hurts to my dad. What happened, in that moment, was so profound that I didn’t realize it until many years later.
Think about this. When we hurt, God our heavenly Father hurts. He loves us so much and He wants to hear everything that’s going on in our life. He wants to hear all the good stuff and the tough things we are going through too. He wants to carry our burdens and our hurts, so we can be free.
So take some time today and maybe have a heart to heart with God. Tell Him what’s on your mind and on your heart. He can handle it. And watch what happens when you release those hurts, frustrations and burdens to him. I pray you feel His love and comfort today and know God loves you so much!
Prayer: Father, thank you for today. We humble ourselves before You, under Your mighty hand, knowing that You will lift us up. Lord, You know what each person is going through right now. So we lay all of our troubles, all of our heart-aches, all of our fears, before You right now. Wrap Your loving arms around Your precious children and let them know how much they are loved. Strengthen those that feel weak, encourage those that feel discouraged, knowing You are working all things out for our good and for Your great purpose. Amen.
Please know we are praying for you and we hope this encourages you today!
