God’s Promise to You
The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me.
I will protect those who trust in my name.” (Psalm 91:14, NLT)
We’re continuing to look at Psalm 91 and we hope it has helped to encourage you and strengthen your faith. Psalm 91 encourages us to trust God for His protection and security. We’ve learned problems will come. But through this Psalm we also see God’s promise to us.
“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.” (Psalm 91:14, NIV)
Here the Psalm changes to God speaking to us personally. God is sharing His promise of what He will do for us. He holds us close. He loves us. Think about it, love always requires being near. When you love someone, you want to be near them, you want to be close to them.
“I will rescue him; I will protect him” (Psalm 91:14). This is not a statement giving God’s people complete immunity from harm. Trouble will come. The apostle Paul wrote, “Everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted” (2 Timothy 3:12). But look in the next chapter, “The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack” … (2 Timothy 4:18). Paul saw persecutions and difficulty, but he also saw how God would rescue him.
God will rescue you too, because He loves you. Believe it today.
Prayer: Father, thank You for Your promise that You will rescue us because You love us. Thank You for Your protection. Thank You that whenever we are in danger, we are not alone. We trust in You Lord. Thank You for being with us, for guiding us. You are faithful. Help us Lord, to lean on You. Help us to trust in You more, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
Praying for you today that God will strengthen and encourage you through this Psalm!
